Christian Pertl has a comprehensive education in law and commercial sciences, which he completed at the University of Economics and Business and the University of Vienna. After many years in the private sector, with a focus on structural development and international expansion, he moved to the Ministry of Finance in 2017. There, he initially worked in the IT Taxes and Customs department before assuming responsibility for the entire financial administration in Austria in 2018 as Deputy Data Protection Officer. Since the beginning of 2024, he has been working at the Austrian Data Protection Authority in the department for national and international special affaires. There he deals with national and international complaint procedures, official examination procedures as well as with the topics Codes of Conduct, accreditations and certifications. 

With his wide-ranging wealth of experience, he combines economic and legal know-how with in-depth expertise in the field of data protection and digital administration. In addition, he regularly gives lectures on current topics and sometimes publishes articles in relevant journals. Christian Pertl is also a TÜV-certified data protection officer and DSMS auditor according to ISO/IEC 27701.
