She leads the Global Privacy Office, which supports WFP in designing data protection & privacy policies and strategies and supports their effective and consistent implementation at the global level.

A lawyer by training, Carmen has over 20 years of extensive experience in the Data Protection and Information Technology field – with a focus on highly regulated sectors, mostly in life sciences (healthcare, biotech and pharma).

Before joining WFP, she worked for the law firm Fieldfisher Jausas in Barcelona for 9 years, heading its Technology, Media & Telecom (TMT) Department. She subsequently moved to the private sector, working in the Global Privacy Office of the largest independent US biotech company, Amgen, supporting the EU region in innovation and a team of 11 DPOs.

Carmen is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) in Europe through the International Association of Privacy Professionals. She has also been a member of APEP (Spanish Association of Privacy Professionals), serving on its Board of Directors for 4 years, and as coordinator of its APEP Health Group.

She has collaborated on several European Commission funded research projects, and lectures in several university masters on Big Data, Technology, Security and Data Protection.

Carmen Casado is a Spanish national from Galicia. She holds an LLM in Computer & Communications Law from Queen Mary University in London, a Master’s Degree in Legal Practice from Ilustre Colegio de la Abogacía de Barcelona (ICAB) with specialized diplomas in Corporate and Administrative Law, and a Law Degree from the University of A Coruña.
